I’m still feeling pretty sore from the 5K. Tonight I decided though that I needed to do something active so I opted to take a long walk.

Shirley Mae 5k: complete!
So yesterday was the Shirley Mae 5k Run and Walk… I woke up early feeling super anxious and nervous. Made coffee and had half of banana. My tummy was too anxious to eat.
Night before the 5k…
Eeeek!!! Well.. its the night before and here I sit.. wondering just how things will go. I’ve had amazing advice from people and I know I have so much love and support going into this which makes me feel like I already won… Continue reading
Week 8- Run 3- so so
Ok so.. tonight I decided to try out run 3 of week 8.. but I did it very lackadaisical *but semi on purpose*. I don’t want to burn myself out for the 5k Saturday, but still wanted to try to maintain the Couch to 5k app. I ran the first 10 minutes, then walked a while.. then ran about three minutes, walked, then ran five minutes and walked the rest. So the 28 minutes strauight I could not complete (nor do I think I could have)… I found my legs shaky and my motions not as fluid as Tuesday. I also have found that when i take a few days off and go off schedule, my next run is much better. Not sure what to make of that. Continue reading
Week 8 – run 2 : yay!!
Today I ran 28 minutes straight without stopping! This was definitely a pivotal run for me! I felt as if I could keep going and my strides were longer and smoother.
Week 8: Run 1
Unfortunately this run wasn’t as good as my last one. This run was supposed to be 28 minutes. I made it through 15 solid but then I had to walk a bit. A couple other times afterward I had to walk as well. Continue reading
Week seven: Run 3
Well today I completed my last run of week seven- 25 minutes straight through (this time no stopping!!). It felt good for sure altho I have to admit at points it was definitely difficult and I slowed to a death-crawl-jog at a few points.
I focused on tryin to not keep my arms too high, retaining a lot of tension in my upper body (thanks Sonya!!)
. So they were at a 90 degree angle or lower. I do think that helped. Got a slight stitch in my normal spot but ran through it and it did not become too awful.
Anyways I can’t believe week 8 is next!!
I have to say though I don’t feel ready for a 5k yet :-/. But pushing on!!
Week Seven: Run Two: ick
Well… todays 25-minute run definitely didnt go as well as Monday’s. This evening I had to stop FOUR times during it. Another side stitch… and once I stop.. well its all over from there. Its like opening Pandora’s box to frustration and defeat.
Week 7: Run 1- SUCCESS!
Ok! Today’s run was another 25-minute straight through. THIS TIME I did it!!! I’d say probably the last 5 minutes could be called jalk… (a jog thats almost walking but not.. lol).
Week six : run 3 : not so hot
Well today’s challenge was to run 25 minutes straight. Not so great. I had to stop twice which really bummed me out.
